Collective Coffee Co.

I’ll be honest. I really wanted to try Garcias Tortilla House this morning but their elusive hours have gotten the best of me and I don’t know that it’s actually open. I digress.

Since I was downtown and needed to head to Mount Pleasant to run some errands (read: tax free shopping at Gap) I yelped for a coffee shop near by. First one that popped up – Collective Coffee Co., it had good reviews, why not? I pull into the parking lot and had some trouble finding it as there are shops at the base of a ton of town-homes, eventually I went to where all the cars were and found it.

One thing Charleston doesn’t have a lot of would be coffee shops, and I’m not talking Starbucks, like the locally owned ones… I lived in Nashville for 9 years and if there is one thing Nashville has, it’s coffee shops so my expectations can be high when it comes to finding the perfect cup of caffeine.

OK, back to Collective Coffee Co. I walked in, and it was adorable, like out of an episode of HGTV’s Fixer Upper adorable. They had a menu with a decent amount of variety for breakfast and lunch. On that menu was a yummy looking breakfast burrito which I ordered along with an iced coffee.

NOTE: A make or break for ANY coffee shop for me is if they have a simple syrup available or not. Iced coffee is the only type of coffee I drink and the little granules don’t dissolve in iced coffee. Collective Coffee Co. verdict? They had a big bottle of simple syrup!

The coffee was fantastic and I enjoyed it outside in the shade before the Charleston heat got to unbearable. The breakfast burrito was good but definitely could have been a little bulkier. However, it did have one of my favorite ingredients that get overlooked in breakfast burrito-land: potatoes. So they win that battle.

All in all, I really liked this place and even texted my boyfriend that I will have to bring him there once he was back in town!
